Skills Training Scheme
The Sherford Consortium continues to invest in the local community, and alongside City College Plymouth and South Devon College, is now providing training, work experience and, via contractors, long-term employment opportunities during every phase of the Sherford development, through its Skills Training Scheme. Developed to help people get skills, boost the local construction industry, and help young people find work, the scheme gives local people a significant role in building the region’s biggest community development. It aims to help generate more jobs for local people, boost the regional economy, as well as helping to provide people with the skills needed to those wanting to get involved within the construction industry.
The Skills Training Scheme provides access to training in various areas of construction, such as groundworks, roofing, carpentry, plastering, plumbing and bricklaying. Participants will also gain practical experience knowledge of health and safety, large scale development processes and onsite communication. The Skills Training Scheme is open to all, from school leavers looking to gain invaluable site experience, people wanting an apprenticeship, those seeking to learn new skills and people looking to retrain or find work. For more information regarding the Skills Training Scheme and the courses available, please click here.
To be involved in one of the country’s most innovative new community developments, and create a lasting legacy apply today. If you are interested in a job or an apprenticeship opportunity at Sherford, please email SRicketts@cityplym.ac.uk.
