ANSWERING YOUR OPEN HOUSE FAQS

We would like to thank everyone who attended our first Open House event at Sherford and we hope that you found it useful and informative. Following on from the event, and in response to the questions and queries raised, we have provided the below information regarding various areas of the development including future plans, community facilities, homes and public services at Sherford.

SHERFORD HOMES

Q. Who do I contact if I have a problem or issue with my home?

A. Please direct any queries regarding your home to the appropriate developer. Contact details for each developer are as follows:

TRAFFIC

Q. Who do I contact if I have a problem or complaint of on operational nature, about the construction site or traffic?

A. Please direct any queries or complaints to info@sherford.org – this is a monitored email address and your query will be answered within 48 hours. Sherford residents with any urgent queries or concerns should contact the site team on: 07592 839402. If you are making a complaint about a construction vehicle, we encourage you to provide number plate details.

Q. Where can I found out more information regarding the completion of road works?

A. For more information about road works, please visit the Traffic Updates page on the Sherford website. This is updated regularly with the latest traffic information. You can also keep up to date with all the recent news and road works information by signing up to our bi-monthly newsletter here.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Q. When will Sherford be accessible by bus and via cycle paths?

A. The first bus service will begin to operate at Sherford from September 2018. This is planned to run every 20 minutes during the day and hourly in the evenings, Mondays to Saturdays, linking Sherford (from the Primary school) with Plymstock Broadway, Morrisons at Pomphlett, the city centre and continuing through to Plymouth railway station, Milehouse (for the Life Centre and Plymouth Argyle FC), St Budeaux and Saltash.

The draft timetable has the first bus leaving Sherford in the morning at 06:31am, arriving at Royal Parade at 06:58am. On Saturdays it will depart Sherford at 07:05am arriving at Royal Parade at 07:45am, with the last service to Sherford leaving the City Centre at 23:30pm and arriving at 23:51pm.

There will be an hourly service during the day on Sundays and Bank Holidays. The services on Sundays and bank holidays are presently timetabled to run from Sherford between 09:00am to 18:00pm, with the last bus arriving into Sherford at 18:45pm.

There will also be National Cycle Network connections, with links to existing bridleways.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES

Q. How can the Country Park be accessed?

A. To visit the Country Park, drive along Sherford Road until you reach the car park at the southern edge of the first phase of Sherford. While construction of the new town is still ongoing, visitors are advised to travel by car, but in time the park will be walkable from Sherford and the surrounding area. As this is only the first section of parkland to open, be please be aware that this typical Devon countryside terrain is uneven underfoot, and access involves crossing a wooden stile. As more of the extensive Country Park is completed, more accessible routes will follow.

Q. When will the leisure centre be open?

A. Currently we are meeting with potential leisure centre operators and hope to have more information about the leisure centre’s planning and construction next year.

Q. When will a play area be open?

A. We are in the process of opening the first green spaces at Sherford and the formal play areas will be opened in due course. We will provide more information as these plans progress.

PUBLIC SERVICES

Q. Which local authority is responsible for my bin collections?

A. Waste collection is currently being carried out by the waste collection teams at Plymouth City Council. This is for both residents in the Plymouth and South Hams administrative areas.

Currently, bin collections are via communal bins situated within the bin stores, and there are no individual bins being provided. It is likely that in 2020, South Hams will assume waste collection responsibility for all of Sherford. Once this has been agreed, residents will be notified of the transition in advance.

Q. Will Sherford have a post box?

A. South Hams District Council is currently looking into the provision of a post box at Sherford and has contacted Royal Mail. We hope to have more information on this soon.

Q. Will my children be entitled to a free school bus if they attend Ivybridge Community College?

A. The Sherford Consortium is making a financial payment to ensure that all secondary school children that attend Ivybridge Community College are entitled to free transport, regardless of whether they live in the Plymouth or South Hams part of the site.

COMMERCIAL SPACE

Q. When will the first commercial spaces be completed and when are the first tenants expected to move in?

A. Early design and planning of the first commercial and retail units is underway. We are in the process of liaising with various businesses regarding commercial opportunities at Sherford and hope to have more information on this soon.
